missypixie melanie skirt
Top: A for Arcade Tammy Lace Top in Indigo (L)
Bottom: Missypixie Melanie Skirt in White (M)

This is my first time shopping with Missypixie and I must say, I'm very impressed! I've long been a fan of their style but most of the time their bottoms/dresses are too short for my liking. I was immediately enamoured of this skirt after seeing it on their preview, carted it out and paid on the day of the launch (Sunday), and the parcel arrived today (Tuesday)!

For $27, this is a really good piece. Material is thick and, due to it being fully lined, not sheer, although there is a few fingers' width at the hem that is not lined and hence semi-sheer. In fact, the material is kind of textured, but not scratchy due to the inner lining. (I'd have loved for them to use the same material as A for Arcade's Leighton midi!) There is a secure button and zip closure. The pleats also fall very nicely straight out of the parcel.

However, size M is too big for me, and falls to mid-waist when I move around (I prefer it high-waist). I must've lost some weight unknowingly (HAHA)... but measuring my piece, I think it fits a 13.5"-15" waist, as opposed to the 13-14" stated on site. (I'm a 13-13.5" waist.)

My A for Arcade Leighton midi in Tangerine also arrived. (See my review for Indigo here.) A for Arcade is considerably slower in their mailing. Tangerine is closer to a vivid red (edit: colour swatch below; colour swatch for Indigo has also been added in its post, link above). BO for the midi is over already, if I'm not wrong, but do hunt this down as it's definitely a keeper!

Thanks for your detailed review. The skirt looks great on you just that it's a little loose. I just bought the skirt in Orange size S too. I think it might be a little loose on me ><. I'm 11.5 to 12" at waist.

Do you think it's possible for you to sew the button further away to make it tighter at the waist?

No problem and thank you! :) I'm not sure about size S though, it's just that the skirt is really stretchier than they give it credit for, haha!

I don't think it's possible to resew the button as there's still the zip in one line from the button, if that makes sense :( It's a little like my school uniform skirt, if you remember how there's usually a hook and a zip together.

Do you mean the skirt is actually secured by the zip and not by both the zip and button? The button is non-functional?

Um I don't know how to explain it haha! The button is functional, but both the button and the zip are sewn in one line such that if you move the button inwards, I doubt you would be able to zip up. It would mess up the alignment of the sewing. It's a bit like how most skirts are secured by a hook and a zip. You have to move both, or neither. Does this explain things a little better? :/
